Guilty pleasures in morm country

well I’m sure we all have our guilty pleasures we keep from our friends to seem cool.  Well I am no exception as I admit to watching bot ‘Weeds’ and ‘Big Love’ for their over the top soapoperan quality. Sure I won’t admit I watch these shows to anyone in conversation, infact I might even make fun of people who admit to watching these programs.

With that in mind I’ve been glued to the cliffhanger style Bill Paxton show about Mormons. First off Bill Paxton is great, you can tell he’s just reading his lines, but his real life confusion about the part really helps his character.  The rest of the show is pretty good except for Jeanne Tripplehorn who is equally irritating and unattractive.  The rest of the  cast is excellent featuring Mary Kay Place , y and Harry Dean Stanton in historic roles.

So besides Bill Paxton, you also get to hear all about Mormon shit and folklore that the media has been trying to suppress.  It’s almost too hard to believe these societies exist , but you can really understand how after seeing this program.  Like theres backwoods Mormons, gangster mormons, regular non-polygamist mormons, fundamentalist mormons, weird perverted shit etc.  So me for that’s alot of fun and it makes me want to check out Utah to see if theres still room to get in on the action.  Before seeing this my only knowledge of the Mormon religlion was from my buddy who deserted it when they wanted him to go door to door for like 2 years selling the book of morm, and the south park episode “all abouts morms’. And theres a charles bronson movie that touches on it , but it really drags on.

also theres this weird character Hollis Greene, I don’t really get his role but I want to find out more, he seems pretty cool. if anyone  knows more about his background or has theories about the shows plot lines let me know ,.
